SCAT Airlines’ plane went to alternate airport due to terrorist attack in Istanbul

A plane belonged to SCAT Airlines, Kazakhstan, was forced to fly to the
alternate airfield due to the terrorist attack at the airport in Istanbul, Victoria
Ulyanova, Chief of the Public Relations Department, SCAT Airlines, told Tengrinews.kz.

“The flight of our airline, departed from Aktau to Istanbul on June 28th. The plane
was approaching the destination airport when bombing occurred there. In
connection with the events in the Atatürk International Airport,
our plane landed at alternate airfield in the Sabiha Gokcen International Airport.
Our plane flew back to Aktau at 07:45a.m. Istanbultime on June 29th. We are closely monitoring the situation and will
additionally inform our passengers on time and airport of departure to / from
the city of Istanbulin the period from June 29th through July 3rd”, Mrs. Ulyanova
said. She added that the flight is operated three times a week by Boeing-737
aircraft.

In connection with the incident in Istanbul, Turkey, SCAT Airlines kindly
asks all its passengers departing from/to Istanbul in the period from June 28th through July 3rd inclusive, to contact around the clock a number of
the call center or in the Facebook and Vkontakte social networks to get to-date
information about the airport and the departure time of flights.

“If necessary, air tickets can be rebooked for other dates at the
request of passengers and this will be carried out for free and without paying
any fines and charges. Withdrawal of air tickets will be carried out according
to airfare application conditions”, the Air Company added.

Earlier, Air Astana reported that its clients who have decided to
abandon the flight to Turkeyafter the terrorist attack at the airport in Istanbul, may be reimbursed the full cost of
their tickets by the Air Company. This applies to flights departing Istanbul and Antalyabefore July 15, 2016.

Recall, three explosions occurred on Tuesday, June 28, at the Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport.
According to CNN Turk, shots were heard at the airport, too. According to
eyewitnesses, the shooting was carried out from the airport parking area.
According to preliminary data, the explosions at the airport were committed by
the terrorists who threw their grenades. At least, 36 people were killed.
