Kazakh Minister for Investment and Development comments possible sale of Airbus to Syria

Jenis
Kasymbek, Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan, commented
about the possible sale of Airbus aircraft to Syria, according to Kazinform.

“These
two planes are derived from the state register. This information was sent to
the Iranian authorities. According to our information, these two planes are in Tehran. No one has information
as if they are in a third country. We have informed our Foreign Ministry, competent
authorities and the USdiplomatic service. We met separately, and, in principle, our colleagues from
the U.S. Embassy and other structures were fully satisfied with the information
that we provided. One aircraft was registered in the autumn/fall. It was
removed from the register and left to Armenia and not to a third country”,
the Minister said on the sidelines of the Government’s meeting.

According
to him, these aircraft are passenger and not cargo. There was a service
investigation, the materials were submitted to the Transport Prosecutor’s Office,
the Minister said.

“There
are certain questions. The Transport Prosecutor’s Office and, as far as I know,
the anti-corruption bureau are dealing with the issue. (…) I can say that the
submitted materials indicate that there was a number of violations. We asked to
give an additional legal conclusion on the degree of responsibility for specific
individuals, as a violation of the law”, Mr. Kasymbek concluded.

As
previously reported, Kazakhstanchecks on violations during registration of Airbus aircraft.

“Some
mass media are involved in discussing possible sale of Airbus civil aircraft toSyria, as they are
registered in the Civil Aircraft State Register, Kazakhstan. When studying the
materials, one has found out that the Civil Aviation Committee under the
Ministry of Investment and Development registered aircraft and removed them
with gross violations of the Airspace Usage and Aviation Activities Law”, one
said in a statement.

On
February 25, 2017 materials on this fact were registered by the Main Transport
