Airport in Petropavlovsk fined for weak anti-terrorism protection

The international airport in Petropavlovsk, northern Kazakhstan, was fined for improper performance of its duties, as regards providing antiterrorist protection, according to the Kyzylzhar District Court.

“The court found that on December 21, 2017 when the facility was tested for vulnerability in a terrorist sense, it was revealed that the CEO of the Petropavlovsk International Airport JSC unduly discharged duties on ensuring antiterrorist protection and observing the proper level of security of the facility entrusted to him,” the court message says.

The airport will be subjected to an administrative penalty in the form of a fine in the amount of KZT 453.8 thousand (US $ 1 = KZT 324) to be paid to the state budget.

The decision has not entered into force so far.
