GULF AIR to schedule operating Bahrain – Baku direct flights in summer 2018

Gulf Air, Bahrain, has its plans to launch direct flights from Bahrain to Baku, Azerbaijan, in the summer of 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan said.

Nazim Samedov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Azerbaijan, held talks with the leadership of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Bahrain and the President of Gulf Air, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani on Tuesday.

The meeting was held within the framework of the 10th Conference of the Ministers of Tourism, member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Bangladesh on February 5-7, 2018.

“During the meeting, issues of cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector were discussed, and it was announced that Gulf Air will start operating direct flights from Bahrain to Baku in the summer months of 2018 in accordance with the proposal of the Azerbaijani side,” the message says.

According to the Ministry, Azerbaijani officials made a proposal to launch direct flights en route Baku – Bahrain in the framework of the Second World Conference on Tourism and Culture, held in Oman on December 11-12, 2017.

Gulf Air, the national air carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, began operations in 1950, becoming one of the first commercial airlines based in the Middle East. Nowadays, Gulf Air is a major international air carrier serving 42 cities in 25 countries on three continents.
