Officials do not give up their hope to create large hub at Manas, Osh international airports

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov met with Matthew Jordan-Tank, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Director of the Department for Infrastructure Projects. Yesterday, February 27, 2018 they discussed some plans to develop the country’s airports.

According to the Kyrgyz Government, the parties discussed topical issues of joint cooperation.

Mr. Isakov noted that the EBRD is a reliable partner for Kyrgyzstan, which makes a great contribution to the social and economic development of the country. He also added that the Government plans to continue the reconstruction and modernization of the Manas and Osh international airports, to increase their carrying capacity and improve the infrastructure.

According to the Prime Minister, these airports have great potential to become a major air hub in the region.

Matthew Jordan-Tank noted his readiness for joint cooperation on this issue. He presented information about the EBRD’s experience in developing and modernizing international airports in various countries around the world.

The Prime Minister instructed to create a working group consisting of representatives of relevant governmental agencies under the leadership of Vice Prime Minister Sanzhar Mukanbetov to conduct more detailed negotiations with the EBRD on the possibility of joint cooperation aimed to the development and modernization of the Manas International Airport.
