It becomes known when cargo terminal of airport in Dushanbe to start operating

The cargo terminal of the Dushanbe International Airport (DIA) will be commissioned on June 26, 2018, according to TajikTA News Agency.

“The construction of the DIA cargo terminal is being carried out according to the schedule, the commissioning of this facility is scheduled for June 26 this year,” Asliddin Melikov, CEO, Dushanbe International Airport SUE (state unitary enterprise), told the members of the Lower Chamber of the Tajik Parliament.

Earlier, the Government of Tajikistan and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement to improve the Dushanbe International Airport.

To implement the first phase of the project in accordance with this Agreement, the Government of Japan provided a grant amounting YEN 1.9 billion (US $ 17.5 million) to construct the cargo terminal, to acquire and install ILS and PALS navigation systems, and to purchase equipment for handling freight.

Following the results of the international tender, the ‘ADDED VALUE CORPORATION’ company was chosen as the main supplier of ILS and PALS systems, which ensure the exact landing of aircraft at the airfield in Dushanbe.

These systems and equipment for handling freight were purchased in Norway, Germany, Belgium and Japan. In the first half of 2017, experts from ‘ADDED VALUE CORPORATION’ started their work on the project aimed to supply equipment for the terminal, namely the instrument landing system (ILS) and portable airfield lighting system (PALS) for the runway.
