Astana International Airport’s new terminal served 2 million passengers for the year

The new terminal of the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport served about two million passengers for a year of its operations, Kazinform reported with reference to the Airport’s Press Service.

“Exactly one year ago, on June 5, 2017, the new terminal named T1 of the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport served its first flight en route Astana – Moscow. On May 31, 2017 a modern terminal was opened with the participation of the President of Kazakhstan. The terminal, intended for acceptance of international flights, was built by KTZh JSC NC under the Nurly Jol State Program. At present, 15 foreign and two Kazakhstan airlines fulfill regular departures and arrivals in T1. For the year of operation, the terminal served about two million passengers and over ten thousand aircraft sorties were committed,” the airport said.

Recall, the total territory of the new terminal is 47 thousand square meters, including international passenger and VIP-terminals, six new aircraft parking lots with landing sleeves and four bus landing routes.

In addition, high technologies and processes designed to improve the quality of service at the airport are introduced here. The terminal has the first modern baggage handling system in Kazakhstan, which complies with EU standards and can handle up to 1,200 pieces of baggage per hour. There are 50 passport control booths, 27 check-in counters and four self-check-in counters.

Total capacity of the T1 terminal is 5.2 million passengers per year.
