Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan called airfares without free hand luggage to be a violation

The Civil Aviation Committee under the Ministry of Investment and Development, Kazakhstan, commented on the introduction of tariffs by some Kazakhstan airlines without the possibility of carrying baggage, according to the Kazinform News Agency, Kazakhstan.

“Taking into account the frequent complaints from the passengers on the recent introduction of tariffs by some Kazakhstan airlines without the possibility of carrying baggage, we inform that according to the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on air transport there is a free transportation of hand luggage and luggage weighing not more than 20 kg regardless of the type and size of the tariff. At the same time, the total weight of hand luggage, allowed into the cabin of the aircraft, and its maximum dimensions are set by the air carrier. The use of tariffs by Kazakh airlines without granting the right to free baggage transportation is a violation of the norms of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the Civil Aviation Committee said in its statement posted on its official Facebook page.

As one noted, in case of violation and refusal to carry baggage, passengers can appeal against the air carrier’s actions in court or appeal to the Civil Aviation Committee to bring this air company to responsibility.
