AZAL launches its flights from Moscow’s Vnukovo airport to Azerbaijan’s Lankaran

The national air carrier of Azerbaijan, AZAL, has launched its flights from Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport, Russia to Lankaran, Azerbaijan.

In honour of launching the first flight at Moscow’s Vnukovo, a solemn event was held, in which Vnukovo Airport General Director Vassily Aleksandrov, Vnukovo Airport Sales Director Maxim Shishko, Advisor to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation Samir Sharifov, Deputy Executive Director of AZAL Jamil Manizade took part. As part of the event, a press conference took place, where journalists from Russia and Azerbaijan were able to ask the speakers all their questions. After the press conference, a festive banquet was held, at which the management of the airport and airlines symbolically cut a corporate cake with the logos of Vnukovo airport and AZAL.

Also, as part of the ceremony devoted to launching Moscow – Lankaran flight, the first checked-in passenger was identified. This was Shola Ismailova. The first passenger was given souvenirs from Vnukovo International Airport and AZAL.

Moscow – Lankaran flights are operated weekly, on Fridays, with departure from Vnukovo at 10:00 am, and Lankaran – Moscow flights are also scheduled on Fridays with departure from Lankaran at 02:40 pm and arrival in Vnukovo at 05:50 pm. All flights are carried out on comfortable Airbus A320 airliners.

At the moment, AZAL operates flights from Moscow to Azerbaijan’s Baku, Ganja, Gabala and Lankaran.

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is a major air carrier and one of the leaders of the aviation community in CIS. The total air route network of this airline includes about 40 destinations in 25 countries. In 2016, Azerbaijan Airlines carried more than 2 million passengers.

Civil aircraft of Azerbaijan fully comply with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and AZAL is a member of the most prestigious civil aviation association – the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

AZAL has one of the youngest aircraft fleets, which includes 23 aircraft.

The headquarters of AZAL is located in Baku, at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which meets the requirements of international standards.
