AZAL’s Moscow – Lankaran direct flights launched – ADDITION

Since June 8, 2018 Azerbaijan Airlines” (AZAL) starts operating its direct flights en route Moscow, Russia – Lankaran, Azerbaijan – Moscow.

According to Azerbaijan’s APA-Economics, today a grand ceremony to launch the flight took place at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport. The new flight was launched by the CEO of Vnukovo Vasily Alexandrov, general representative of AZAL in Russia Rahib Isayev, sales director of Vnukovo Maxim Shishko and deputy executive director of AZAL Jamil Manizade.

“The number of flights to Azerbaijan from Vnukovo airport is growing every year, there is a large Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia, the tourism sector is developing in Azerbaijan, all these factors make the launching of new flights to Azerbaijan inevitable,” Mr. Alexandrov said.

Mr. Manizade expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Vnukovo for the created conditions: “98% of tickets have already been sold for the first flight, six international airports are operating in Azerbaijan today and we hope that flights to all airports of Azerbaijan will be carried out from Vnukovo next year.”

Mr. Shishko said that Vnukovo airport has been cooperating with AZAL for three years: “AZAL carries out flights from Vnukovo five times a day, and we hope that this number of flights will be increased. AZAL offers very reasonable prices and we will also try to provide services to passengers at a high level.”

The first passenger of Moscow – Lankaran flight Sholya Ismayilova received gifts from Vnukovo Airport and AZAL.

We note herein that Moscow – Lankaran – Moscow flights will be operated weekly, on Fridays, on Airbus A320s. Departures from Vnukovo – at 10:00 am local time, arrival at Lankaran International Airport – at 02:10 pm. Return flights will depart from Lankaran at 03:40 pm and arrive in Moscow at 05:50 pm local time. Tickets can be booked and purchased on the airline’s website, at the AZAL air ticket sales offices and at the airline’s official agencies.

Within the summer flight schedule, AZAL ‘s flights from other regions of Azerbaijan – Ganja (since April 13) and Gabala (since June 4) are also carried out to Moscow. Flights to these destinations are carried out as part of a joint program of partnership with Russian travel companies. In addition, direct flights from Ganja to Moscow are also carried out by the first national low-cost air carrier, Buta Airways.
