New President of Almaty International Airport appointed

The Board of Directors of Almaty International Airport JSC decided to early terminate the authority of President Aibol Bekmuhambetov, according to the Kazinform News Agency, Kazakhstan.

The decision of the Board was made in connection with Mr. Bekmukhambetov’s statement on his release from office at his own request. Mr. Bekmukhambetov has governed the Almaty International Airport since 2009.

According to the Almaty International Airport JSC, Bolat Yerzhanov, who previously held the post of Executive Director for Transportation of this airport, has become the new President since June 12, 2018.

Mr. Erzhanov was born on December 9, 1966 in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar Region. He is a graduate of the Omsk Flight Technical College of Civil Aviation and the Civil Aviation Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.

He began his career in the Pavlodar Joint Aviation Squad of the Kazakh Civil Aviation Administration, where he worked until 1997 as Deputy Chief of the Transportation Organization.

In 1997 – 2003, he worked with Irtysh Avia Airlines, Air Kazakhstan CJSC, and since 2003, he has had executive positions at the Almaty International Airport. Since January 1, 2010, he has been the Executive Director for Transportation, Almaty International Airport JSC.

Recall that Almaty International Airport is the largest airport in Central Asia and Kazakhstan. The intensity of flights reaches 12-15 sorties per hour or 170 per day. In 2017, 5.7 million passengers were served. Currently, the airport serves 13,500 passengers per day. The annual cargo turnover is up to 50 thousand metric tons. The airport has two runways of 4.4 and 4.5 kilometers long, which are capable of taking all types of aircraft without restrictions on the meteorological minimum of the ICAO-3 category, with visibility not less than 75 m. The total area of ​​the passenger terminal is 28,963 square meters.
