Airport in Kazakhstan’s Ust-Kamenogorsk to be modernized

The list of countries and cities where it will be possible to fly from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, with no flight changes will expand in three years, according to the Kazinform News Agency, Kazakhstan.

Modernization of the airport in Ust-Kamenogorsk is scheduled in the period of 2019 – 2021.

According to Nurzhan Zhumadilov, Director, Passenger Transport and Highways Department, East-Kazakhstan Region, construction and installation work will be carried out, lighting and signaling equipment, as well as the parking place and platform will be completely redone. A cargo terminal will be built and the runway extended up to 2,800 meters long.

“After that, we will be able to take Airbus and other planes with a larger capacity, except for military transport and cargo aircraft,” Mr. Zhumadilov said.

In addition, during this period, there are plans to reconstruct the runway of the airport located in the village of Urdzhar, Kazakhstan.
