Electronic boarding pass introduced at airport in Kazakhstan’s Astana

The Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana, Kazakhstan, launched the ePassenger software, Kazinform reports with reference to the airport’s press service.

“The new system operates to serve passengers using mobile boarding passes. It should be noted that this technology is already used by the largest airports in the world. The service represents a pre-flight inspection system for passengers using an electronic boarding pass,” the message reads.

According to the airport, from now on, passengers have the opportunity to pass their boarding pass check by scanning them from the screen of the electronic device. It can be a smartphone and a tablet. Paper copy is optional.

“In this case, a passenger with hand baggage is checked-in for the flight remotely – from a computer or mobile device, and a boarding pass containing a special 2D bar code is sent to him by E-mail. Earlier, when checking in for a flight, an airline passenger received a boarding pass, with which (s)he passed special control at the entrance to the sterile zone, and then presented it when boarding an aircraft. At the same time, the passenger had to print the boarding pass on his/her own, or get it at the airline’s check-in desk at the airport,” the airport added.

Thus, this service at the Astana International Airport greatly facilitates the passengers’ check-in procedure by saving time.
