Kutaisi – Vilnius is the most requested flight from Georgia’s Kutaisi International Airport

The Georgian Airports Association announced its 2018 ranking of the most popular destinations from the Kutaisi International Airport.

According to the rating, Vilnius takes the first place, Warsaw takes the second place, and Dortmund and Katowice share the third place.

According to the Georgian Airports Association, the TOP-5 of the most popular destinations from the Kutaisi International Airport looks as follows:

  • Vilnius
  • Warsaw
  • Dortmund / Katowice
  • Berlin
  • Memmingen

It should be noted that in 2018, the Kutaisi International Airport in total rendered a service to 617,373 passengers, which is by 53% more than in 2017. At this time, only Wizz Air operates at the airport, which in terms of 2018, became the market leader (12%) for the first time in the history of the Georgian aviation market.

And in terms of 2017, as regards passenger traffic, the air company owned 8% of the aviation market in Georgia, and it was ranked third.

It is also noteworthy that Kutaisi is the leader among the airports of Europe by the growth of passenger traffic. According to the data of the ACI (Airports Council International) Europe, in 2018, the airport in Kutaisi served 52.5% more passengers, which is the best indicator among airports with a passenger traffic of less than 5 million.

The airport continues to expand, and accordingly, in subsequent years, it will be able to serve a greater number of passengers.

By 2019, Wizz Air has already announced the addition of a new Airbus A320 and six new destinations. Since August 2019, the airline will start its regular flights from Kutaisi to Eindhoven, Barry, Copenhagen, Basel, Tallinn and Brussels.

Recall that Wizz Air began operating from Kutaisi International Airport in 2012.
