Legitimacy of air ticket sellers to be checked in Tajikistan

The Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan will verify the legality of the activities of intermediaries who sell air tickets.

By its inspections, the Civil Aviation Agency plans to determine how the activities of air ticket sales agencies correspond to the licenses they received. Checks will begin in May 2019.

According to the plan of inspections developed by the Civil Aviation Agency, which is at the disposal of the Asia Plus News Agency, Tajikistan, the activities of 19 companies will be checked. Of these, 17 offices are registered in Dushanbe and two – in the town of Bokhtar.

The Ikrom Subkhonzoda, CEO, Civil Aviation Agency, told Asia Plus last week that domestic airlines were setting up an electronic sale of their air tickets and, in this case, there is no need for intermediaries between air carriers and passengers.

He noted that these intermediaries have 6-8% from each air ticket sold, which affects the final cost of air travel.

Earlier it was reported that Somon Air had criminalized former air ticket agents, as they deceived passengers.

“The airline sent a request to the competent authorities to initiate criminal proceedings against former air ticket agents involved in deceiving passengers. However, until the completion of the investigation, we cannot provide with more detailed information,” the Somon Air report said then.

The air company noted that, starting from February 1, 2019, an air ticket sales office has begun operating at the head office of Somon Air around the clock.
