Airport to be built in Turkmenistan’s Kerki by 2021

An airport will be built in Kerki, Lebap Region, Turkmenistan, as it will be able to handle 100 passengers per hour, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a corresponding Resolution on February 23, 2019.

The document prescribes the start of construction work in May 2019 and hands over the object with full readiness for operations in April 2021. The airport will be built by an individual enterprise named Gündogdy, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

According to the TDH State News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Mammetkhan Chakiyev said there were plans to cooperate with The Thales Company, France, as regards supplies of modern airport equipment.

Recall that President Berdymukhamedov intends to build modern airports in all regions of the country.

The Thales is an international industrial group that produces information systems for aerospace, military and maritime applications.
