Turkmenabat International Airport over fulfills passenger and freight transportation plan

One year (12 months) has passed since the commissioning of the Turkmenabat international Airport with its carrying capacity of 500 passengers per hour. The opening ceremony on February 26, 2018 was attended by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The new airport is able to take any type of aircraft, including the Airbus A380 and the cargo An-225 (“Mriya”). The uniqueness of the architectural embodiment of the airport’s passenger terminal, which has a coating in the shape of a huge star, is marked by the inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records.

The airport employees met the first anniversary of their activities with high labour achievements. Last year, there were plans to carry 213,000 passengers from the airport, and in fact this figure exceeded more than a quarter of a million passengers. The plan for the transport of mail and cargo is fulfilled by 175 percent. Indicators of January-February 2019 also indicate a positive growth trend.

From the Turkmenabat airport, there are domestic flights to Ashgabat, Turkmenbashi and Dashoguz. The airline ticket sales offices were opened in a number of regions of the Turkmenistan’s Lebap Region. Currently, the issue of opening international flights from Turkmenabat to China, Turkey and other countries is being worked out.

Comfortable conditions have been created at the international airport to ensure a high level of flight safety, passenger services and efficient personnel work. Currently, a new modern residential building is being built near the airport and two 4-storey houses designed for 32 families each are being built for the airport workers.
