Kazakhstan’s low-cost airline launches its Karaganda – Almaty domestic flights at affordable airfares

Karaganda residents got the opportunity of cheap air travel to Almaty, Kazakhstan, on a comfortable plane. Today, FlyArystan, the Kazakhstan’s first low-cost air carrier, made its first flight to Karaganda, Kazinform reported.

“This is what our residents have been waiting for – flights at an affordable price. All over the world it is practiced. Now we also have FlyArystan, our low-cost airline, created by Air Astana, as a result of the instructions given by the first President of Kazakhstan. It is very timely and convenient for air passengers,” the Governor of the Karaganda Region Yerlan Koshanov said.

He announced plans to open a bus route to the airport, the schedule of which will be adjusted to the FlyArystan’s flights.

The minimum airfare for this low-cost air company’s flight comes to KZT 6,000+ (US $1 = KZT 381). This amount includes the flight and permission to carry five kilos of hand luggage. Baggage, if necessary, is paid extra.

Food and drinks on board are also purchased at an extra cost. According to Peter Foster, President of Air Astana, prices are reasonable. He cited the example that a dish for two persons, which includes two sandwiches, two cups of coffee and two packages of cookies costs KZT 2,400.

FlyArystan aircraft will fly en route Almaty – Karaganda – Almaty daily.

Right now, FlyArystan has two Airbus A320s at its disposal. In September 2019, this number will increase to four, at the end of next year there will be nine of them, and by the end of 2021, the air company will have 15 aircraft.

Currently, the leadership of this low-cost airline considers an option to establish the second base location for the air carrier at the airport in Karaganda. This will expand the air route network, as flights will be operated not only from/to Almaty, but also from/to other cities of the country.
