Turkmenistan Airlines to resume its flights to EU countries since June 1, 2019

According to Azatlyk Radio and citing the Turkmenistan Airlines’ official website, the planes of this air carrier will resume its flights to the EU countries after a four-month pause since June 1, 2019.

Recall that on February 4, 2019 the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) banned flights for Turkmenistan Airlines over the territory of the EU. Later it became known that the ban was associated with some “divergences in the US and European systems that define the requirements and standards for the operation of aeronautical engineering.” Turkmen aircraft were designed according to US standards, which did not suit the EASA.

In mid-February, the Chronicles of Turkmenistan editorial office received a letter from an engineer of Turkmenistan Airlines, in which an employee of the air carrier reported that the EASA requirements would be fulfilled in 2-3 months.
