ICAO convenes 40th Session of the Assembly

ICAO is convening the next session of the ICAO Assembly, which will be the jubilee one, the fortieth, in a row since its establishment in 1947. The Assembly’s Session is held from September 24 through October 4, 2019, traditionally, beginning since 1974, in Montreal, Canada, at the ICAO Headquarters.

The Assembly will summarize the ICAO’s work for the past three-year period (2016-2018), form the Action Plan and ICAO Budget for the next three-year period (2019-2021), elect the ICAO Council for the next three-year period, discuss the most important problems in developing the global aviation community.

The delegations of 203 ICAO Member States will consider a package of proposals for the development of an ICAO policy in air navigation, aviation security, facilitation, air transport, environmental protection and international air law.

As follows from the contents of the provisional agenda of the meeting, topical issues of the status and development of international civil aviation related to ensuring flight safety, increasing air navigation potential and effectiveness of measures taken, strengthening the balance in aviation safety and facilitation, maintaining the economic development of air transport, supporting environmental protection from the adverse effects of aviation and updating programs in the legal sector are subject to discussion.
