Airbus celebrates delivery of its 12,000th aircraft

Airbus delivered the anniversary 12,000th aircraft in the entire history of the company. This was the narrow-body A220-100, assembled at the A220 final assembly plant in Mirabel, Canada (just north of Montreal), for Delta Air Lines.

The delivered aircraft is the twelfth A220 in the Delta’s fleet. Delta is currently the largest customer of A220 aircraft in the United States. The airline’s order book includes 90 aircraft of this type.

In honour of this momentous event during the test flight, Delta pilots drew an image of 12,000 in the sky.

Airbus delivered its first A300B2 for Air France in 1974. In 2010, after 36 years, Airbus delivered its 6000th aircraft to customers. After that, the company continued to actively increase production rates, which made it possible to deliver the next 6,000 aircraft in just nine years.
