Passenger traffic of Azerbaijan’s airports amounted to 1.85 million people Jan-May 2019

In Jan-May 2019, the airports of Azerbaijan served 1.85 million passengers. Of these, 1.57 million accounted for the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which is by 10 thousand passengers more, as compared to the same figure last year.

During this period, the base air carriers of the airport in Baku, namely Azerbaijan’s AZAL and Buta Airways transported 649 thousand and 177 thousand passengers, respectively.

The number of passengers on international flights at Baku Airport amounted to 1.36 million, of these, AZAL accounted for 32.2%, Buta Airways – 13%. The share of foreign airlines for the period came to 54.8%.

In particular, on May 27 – 30, 2019, Heydar Aliyev International Airport served a total of about 600 flights. Of these, 57 accounted for charter flights, and 10 for additional regular flights of airlines such as FlyDubai, AirArabia, SCAT, IsrAir, Jazeera and others. Passenger traffic of the Azerbaijan’s main airport amounted to about 60 thousand people during the UEFA League Final in Baku.

Currently, 27 passenger airlines operate their flights to/from the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. There are also direct flights from the airports in Azerbaijan’s Ganja and Nakhichevan to Moscow and Istanbul and from Gabala, Azerbaijan, to Moscow. Also, AZAL operates its regular direct flights from Lankaran to Moscow (roundtrip air service).
