Kazakhstan’s medical aviation carried out six sorties for donor organs

Since the beginning of this year, air ambulance, belonging to the National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine (NCCEM), Kazakhstan, has carried out 1,513 flights. Over the entire period of the NCCEM activity, 15,498 flights were completed, Kazinform reports with reference to the Ministry of Health, Kazakhstan.

When considering the Jan-July 2019 period, the NCCEM experts provided medical assistance to 1,855 patients, 2,094 medical services were performed including 1,377 transported patients (65.8%), 290 consultations (13.8%), 132 surgical operations (6.3%) and 295 telemedicine consultations (14.1%).

Since the beginning of 2019, the NCCEM carried out six flights in order to transport donor organs.

The main reasons for providing emergency medical care in the form of medical aviation are as follows: injuries, accidents and poisonings (22.9%), pathologies of childhood (22%), diseases of the circulatory system (20.4%), pathologies of newborns (14.1%), obstetric and gynecological pathologies (12.5%) and other diseases (8.1%).

At the same time, medical aviation is applied not only in the territory of Kazakhstan, as they also carry Kazakh residents or oralmen who are in critical conditions from abroad. For Jan-Jul 2019, 15 citizens of Kazakhstan were transported from foreign clinics to continue their treatment in domestic medical organizations. Transportation from foreign medical organizations to their homeland is carried out for citizens of Kazakhstan and oralmen who are in serious condition and in need of medical support, whose condition does not allow transporting them by regular civil aviation flights or by ground transport.

In total, from 2011 to the present, 74 Kazakh citizens from such countries, as Thailand, Turkey, Switzerland, the United States, South Korea, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia and others have been transported by the medical aviation of Kazakhstan.
