Wizz Air competes with Ryanair in Georgian civil aviation market

Wizz Air, Hungary, has announced the launch dates for new flights to European destinations from Kutaisi Airport, Georgia, Public Television reported with reference to the Georgian Airports Association of Airports.

From November 2019, Wizz Air will begin flying to Italian Bologna. Flights will be operated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Air tickets for Kutaisi – Bologna – Kutaisi flights have been on sale since August 23, 2019.

On July 1, 2020, Wizz Air will launch its flight en route Kutaisi – Cologne, Germany.

On Friday, it became known that Kutaisi – Nice – Kutaisi flights will be launched on December 12, 2019 – a year ahead of the announced date.

Changes in the flight schedule for the winter season will also affect flights to Milan, Italy. Wizz Air will fly there from Kutaisi four times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Starting September 10, another aircraft will be added to the Wizz Air’s fleet at Kutaisi International Airport. It will operate flights to new destinations – to Brussels, Copenhagen, Basel, Eindhoven, Tallinn and Bari.

Recall that on August 21, Georgia reached an agreement with the Irish low-cost Ryanair Airlines to operate flights from the airports of Tbilisi and Kutaisi. Ryanair plans to launch flights to Milan and Bologna, and next year, – to Cologne. Changing Wizz Air’s plans and launching flights to these destinations ahead of schedule is likely due to the fact that Ryanair enters the Georgian civil aviation market.
