Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo International Airport participates in business meeting “From the Heart of Eurasia with Air Astana”

On August 23, Almaty hosted the annual business meeting of airports that are partners of Air Astana and the first low-cost airline in Kazakhstan – FlyArystan.

The event, which has already become a tradition, gathers a large number of participants from airports and airlines. From Tolmachevo Airport JSC, the meeting was attended by Evgeny Yankilevich, Director General of Tolmachevo Airport JSC and Natalia Mzhelskaya, Commercial Director of Tolmachevo Airport JSC.

Peter Forster, President of Air Astana, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants. The airline presented plans aimed to develop the air route network, achievements in modernizing and expanding the aircraft fleet, and improving the quality of passenger service on board. Air Astana presented its new project – FlyArystan, which is the first low-cost airline in Kazakhstan.

Representatives of the Tolmachevo International Airport took part in negotiations with the management of Air Astana over the increase in the number of frequencies and launching new destinations from Kazakhstan to Novosibirsk. This will significantly expand the network of flights with connections at Tolmachevo International Airport, not only for Air Astana passengers, but also the base airport carrier – S7 Airlines. Recall that recently, airlines launched joint flights to Kazakhstan under the code-sharing agreement. In addition, the issues of ground handling of airline flights at Tolmachevo International Airport were discussed.

The topic of the development of Kazakhstan’s air links with other Russian cities was also discussed in terms of cooperation with airports included in the Novaport Holding.

Air Astana is a joint venture of Samruk-Kazyna NWF (51%) and BAE Systems (49%), and began regular flights on May 15, 2002. The air route network includes more than 60 international and domestic flights. The fleet consists of 35 aircraft, such as Boeing 767/757, Airbus A320 / A321 and Embraer E190 / E190-E2. Air Astana is an eight-time Skytrax winner in ‘The Best Airline in Central Asia and India’ nomination, two-time Travelers’ Choice Awards 2018/2019 winner in TripAdvisor’s Regional Asian Carrier nomination. APEX Association, USA, has awarded Air Astana with its five-star award, as a large regional airline, in September 2018.

FlyArystan is the first low-cost air carrier in Kazakhstan, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and created on the basis of Air Astana in 2018. Starting May 1, 2019, the airline began to carry out its commercial scheduled flights on Airbus A320 aircraft within Kazakhstan between such cities, as Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Karaganda, Taraz, Pavlodar, Shymkent, Uralsk and others.

Tolmachevo International Airport in Novosibirsk, Russia, is the largest transit hub outside the Urals on the most important air routes between Europe and Asia. At the end of 2018, the airport served 5.909 million passengers. The air route network of this airport currently has over 95 flight destinations. At present, the airport offers passengers over 2,000 practically used combinations of pairs of connecting flights.
