Kazakhstan to increase number of its domestic low-cost flights

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kassymbek named the main reason for the high price of air tickets in Kazakhstan, Kazinform reported.

“The main problem of the high cost of tickets is a shortage of carrying capacities and the lack of aircraft to meet the demand,” Mr. Kassymbek said at a government meeting.

The Vice Premier also said what work is being done to reduce the price of air travel.

“In order to reduce the airfare costs, the first domestic low-cost air carrier named FlyArystan was launched in May 2019, which plans to double the number of its daily flights from 14 to 28 frequencies by the end of this year. In addition, the Government, jointly with Samruk-Kazyna NWF JSC, plan additional capitalization of Air Astana and Qazaq Air airlines in order to increase the aircraft fleet,” Mr. Kassymbek added.

Recall, yesterday, when speaking with the Message to the people of Kazakhstan at a joint meeting of the chambers of the Kazakh Parliament, the President of state Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev mentioned the prices for food products and airline tickets.
