Singaporean faces jail for buying airline ticket and refusing to fly

In Singapore, a man faces up to two years in prison for buying a plane ticket and not using it, Izvestia writes with reference to The Sun.

According to the publication, the 27-year-old passenger was arrested after he went into the transit zone to say goodbye to his wife. At the same time, the man himself was not going to fly.

According to Singapore law, a person who has received a boarding pass and access to the transit zone can only be in it if he intends to leave the country. Changi airport transit areas are recognized as protected, the local police said.

Now the offender faces up to two years in prison and a fine of € 13 thousand.

It is noted that 33 passengers have been held accountable for such misconduct in Singapore since the beginning of 2019.
