Airport in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay to be opened in mid-September after its reconstruction

As early as September 16, 2019 in Kostanay, Kazakhstan, it is planned to open an airport with its reconstructed runway, the Governor of the Kostanai region Archimedes Mukhambetov announced, according to the Kazinform News Agency, Kazakhstan.

“This year, the implementation of a two-year project for the reconstruction of the runway at the airport in Kostanay is nearing completion. For these purposes, KZT 4.4 billion (USD 1 = KZT 388) were allocated. After completion of this reconstruction, our airport will allow taking air cargo planes,” the Governor said.

The airport, according to Mr. Mukhambetov, is already 99% ready and local authorities intend to open it on September 16th.

Recall that at the beginning of the year it became known that the airport in Kostanay will not be able to take aircraft from June through September 2019. This is due to the reconstruction of the runway.
