Negotiations with the United States on direct air service begin on September 11

George Chogovadze, CEO, Georgian Airports Association under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, together with the Georgian delegation led by Minister Natia Turnava met yesterday with the largest US airline named UNITED AIRLINES in Chicago.

According to Mr. Chogovadze, Georgia is the only country in the region where the civil aviation market has grown unprecedentedly fast in recent years. Over the past six years, growth has increased by 24%. According to him, the beginning of direct flights with the United States will be a step forward both from a political and economic point of view.

According to the CEO of the Georgian Airports Association, in 2018 Georgian airports served 5,033,119 passengers, which is almost four times more than seven years ago. Along with other factors, the growth in interest in the country’s civil aviation market was facilitated by the liberal policy in the Georgian civil aviation sector implemented by Georgia, the operation of direct flights and the emergence of new airlines.
