New flights abroad to be launched from Uzbekistan’s Samarkand

The Government of Uzbekistan intends to increase the number of charter and regular flights to Samarkand from abroad. This is provided for by the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution on additional measures for the effective use and development of the tourism potential of the Samarkand region issued on September 30, 2019.

The government instructed the Ministry of Transport, together with the State Committee for Tourism Development, to hold talks with foreign airlines over two months to launch new flights based on existing tourist demand in promising areas.

At the same time, at the request of domestic and foreign tourism companies, charter flights to Samarkand International Airport should be arranged for the transportation of foreign tourists.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport, together with Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbekistan Airports, was instructed to develop air routes to Samarkand from CIS, as well as China, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Japan, South Korea and European countries to increase tourist flow.
