Aviation authorities praise Dushanbe Airport management for good work

Tajik aviation authorities praised the activities of Dushanbe International Airport for the nine months of this year.

At a meeting devoted to the results of the named airport’s activities for Jan –  Sep 2019, Ikrom Subkhonzoda, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, noted a significant increase in the number of passengers and goods transported through the cargo terminal of the Dushanbe International Airport (DIA).

He especially emphasized the reduction of complaints and claims of passengers in connection with the loss or damage of baggage, according to the DIA press release.

Mr. Subkhonzoda expressed his gratitude to the DIA management “for a huge contribution to develop and improve the airport, and for the satisfactory performance of various services of the enterprise.”

The airport served 1 million 58 thousand passengers for Jan-Sep 2019. The total number of sent and received cargo and mail through the airport’s cargo terminal amounted 1,919 metric tons.

During this period, 677 cases of flight delays were recorded, which is by 200 cases less than in the same period last year.

According to the airport management, the main reasons for flight delays included untimely departures of aircraft from departure airports, airline interference, and adverse environmental conditions.

Currently, 15 airlines operate flights from the Dushanbe International Airport, of these, five are from non-CIS countries, eight are CIS airlines and two Tajik national air carriers.

From the Dushanbe International Airport, aircraft operate their flights to the cities of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, China, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, India and the UAE.
