Domestic air service capacities in Kazakhstan increased by 33%

Kazakhstan is rightfully one of the fastest growing civil aviation markets in the world.

So, in October 2019, as compared to the same period in 2018, the Kazakhstan’s civil aviation market became one of the most dynamic one, as it has increased its air passenger traffic by an average of 33%. This growth was mainly due to the appearance of FlyArystan Airlines, which began its operations on May 1, 2019. For comparison, in 2018, India became the leader in the growth of domestic air transportation, which increased the number of air passengers by 19%over the year.

It is worth noting that as of October 29, 2019 FlyArystan carried 105,000 passengers, with an average aircraft’s load factor of 94%, while the timeliness of flights showed 93%. All this became possible thanks to the addition of the third plane, which was attached to the FlyArystan’s fleet in early October 2019. Thanks to the new airliner, the air route network of this low-cost airline increased and new flights appeared from Nur-Sultan to Pavlodar, Shymkent, Taraz and Semey. It is worth noting that already in December 2019 the fleet will replenish with one more aircraft, which will allow FlyArystan to launch its first international flight from Nur-Sultan to Moscow. In addition, the air carrier will launch its domestic flights en route Nur-Sultan – Kostanay and Almaty – Semey.

In 2020, FlyArystan’s fleet will be expanded by another six aircraft, and in the first half of next year, new air bases will begin their operations in Karaganda and Aktobe. It is expected that each of the new stations will provide jobs for more than 100 local employees, the recruitment of which has already begun. Also, due to the growth of the fleet, by the end of next year, FlyArystan will increase its air route network to about 40 destinations.

Tim Jordan, CEO, FlyArystan, said, “Given that the number of passenger traffic in the Kazakhstan’s civil aviation market grew by 33% in October 2019, we can safely say that FlyArystan had a positive impact to develop the industry in the country. And with the growth of the air company’s fleet, we expect Kazakhstan to become one of the fastest growing domestic civil aviation markets in the world in 2020. And this will be really great news for FlyArystan, the Air Astana group of companies and, most importantly, for all citizens of Kazakhstan.”

The low-cost airline named FlyArystan is a division of Air Astana, and it is based in Almaty and awarded the rating of a four-star airline for quality of service, as well as “The Best Airline of Central Asia and India” award according to the Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The FlyArystan’s fleet consists of three Airbus 320-232 aircraft in a configuration of 180 passenger seats, with an average age of six years of operation.

By 2022, there are plans to increase the airline’s fleet to 15 aircraft, which will be based in different cities of Kazakhstan.
