Wizz Air proposes to abandon business class as part of the fight against climate change

Jozsef Varadi, CEO, Wizz Air, the Hungarian low-cost airline, urged airlines to abandon business class on flights up to five hours in order to deal with climate change, Forbes reports.

The CEO believes that such a refusal will be one of the steps in fighting against climate change.

“Business class needs to be banned. Because of these passengers, carbon emissions are doubled, as compared to economy class passengers. The air industry is guilty of maintaining an inefficient and archaic model,” Mr. Varadi said.

Over the next 10 years, Wizz Air plans to reduce its carbon emissions by 30%. According to the air company, in May, there were 56.5 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer per passenger.
