Embraer E175-E2 makes its first flight

The latest Embraer E175-E2 airliner made its first flight on December 12, 2019. The airliner passed the first flight tests at its base in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The flight was normal.

The Embraer E175-E2 is a 75% improved version of the Embraer 175. It has a larger and more modern wing, and the latest Pratt & Whitney economical PW1700G engines have been installed. An additional row of seats will be added in the passenger cabin, so their number will be increased up to 90 in the mono layout.

As compared to its predecessor, the airliner consumes 16% less jet fuel, and operating costs are reduced by 25%.

Embraer will use three E175-E2 for certification. One of them will be equipped with the interior of the cabin and will undergo maintenance tests, while the other two will be used for aerodynamic and operational tests.

SkyWest Airlines is the first customer of Embraer E175-E2.
