Kazakhstan’s Bek Air Airlines suspends its operations after plane crash

The activities of Bek Air airline were suspended until the circumstances of the crash in Almaty were clarified, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan said on Friday, Trend reports citing RIA Novosti.

The flight of Bek Air airline in the direction of Almaty – Nur Sultan lost its altitude during take-off and broke through a concrete fence. There was a collision with a two-story building. According to the latest data from the Almaty City Hall, 14 people became victims of the plane crash, 35 were injured. There were no Russians on board the crashed plane, the Consulate General said. Flights of the type that crashed in Almaty are suspended; the Fokker-100 is in the airline’s fleet.

“On the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, a government commission was created, headed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. The commission includes the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic and representatives of other government agencies. The commission flies to the scene. Detailed circumstances of the incident and reasons will be established. Until of clarification of circumstances, the activity of this airline has been suspended, “the ministry said.
