Over 20 flights canceled at Dubai International Airport due to flooding

The administration of Dubai International Airport announced on Sunday the cancellation of 22 flights due to heavy rains, which caused flooding of several runways. This was reported by the Gulf News newspaper.

According to the airport, most airliners temporarily land at the neighboring Al Maktoum airport, which operates normally, Trend reports with reference to TASS.

The airport in Dubai is the largest one in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region. Its maximum throughput is 80 million passengers and two million metric tons of cargo per year. Due to the many kilometers of traffic jams caused by the flood, the Dubai authorities are now advising passengers to check out airports in advance and specify where the flight will depart from. As expected, changes in the flight schedule will continue for another day due to heavy rains.
