UIA comments on Iran’s statement on Boeing air crash

Ukraine International Airlines did not doubt the crew’s innocence of the crash of a Boeing 737 in Iran, the air company’s president, Eugene Dykhne said, Trend reported with reference to RIA Novosti.

Iran on Saturday admitted that it shot down a Ukrainian Boeing airliner near Tehran. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran said that it took the Ukrainian plane for an enemy, waiting for a US response to attacks on bases in Iraq that Tehran inflicted in response to the death of General IRGC Kassem Suleimani.

“We didn’t doubt for one second that our crew and our plane could not cause this terrible plane crash. Thanks to everyone who thinks and analyzes who shared this with us,” Mr. Dykhne wrote on Facebook.

The Ukraine International Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 was flying to Kiev and crashed shortly after leaving the Tehran International Airport on Wednesday morning. All 176 people died including 167 passengers from Iran, Ukraine, Canada, Germany, Sweden and Afghanistan and nine crew members.
