Boeing scores no January orders for first time since 1962

The U.S. Boeing Co., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of aviation, space and military equipment, has not received a single new order for the supply of aircraft for the first time since 1962, Trend reports citing RIA Novosti.

At the same time, its main competitor – the European Airbus – recorded 274 new orders for the supply of commercial aircraft.

Boeing is in crisis because of the situation with the 737 MAX aircraft, flights of which have been suspended since March after two plane crashes. In late January, according to media reports, the company will receive a loan of more than US $ 12 billion from more than a dozen banks in order to restore the cash balance against the backdrop of the crisis with the 737 MAX models.

At the end of 2019, the supply of Boeing Co. commercial aircraft halved compared to the same period last year. In particular, in 2019, shipments of the Boeing 737 model decreased from 580 to 127, and in the fourth quarter, shipments of this model fell to nine from 173 a year earlier.

Boeing produces a wide range of civil and military aircraft and develops its space programs. The Boeing structure has two large units – Boeing Commercial Airplanes, which is engaged in the construction of civilian aircraft, and Integrated Defense Systems, which implements space and military programs.
