Kyrgyz Ministry of Transport and Antimonopoly Committee to consider increasing prices of air tickets

The Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Transport and the State Antimonopoly Service have jointly created a working group to check the increase in prices for flights on Bishkek – Osh domestic flights. This information was sounded today, September 12, by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads Gulmira Abdraliyeva at a meeting of the Kyrgyz Parliament’s Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction.

Let’s note, the Parliament member stated about cartel collusion among the airlines. In particular, Altynbek Zhunus uulu (Onuguu-Progress Faction) noted that air tickets for this air route usually do not exist, but price manipulation begins some days before the holidays.

Other deputies also reported manipulation, in particular Ulukbek Ormonov (Bir Bol Faction), who noted that air ticket prices rise by several times just before traditional holidays, such as Kurman Ait, Orozo and others. “Air tickets to Moscow cost KGS 6,000 one way, and here, to fly to Osh you have to pay the same amount, even half a liter of water is sold for KGS 70, whereas gasoline costs KGS 42 per liter, so what does it mean?” he was indignant.

As a result, the Parliament members decided to consider this issue at the next meetings.

According to the head of the Committee Marat Amankulov, he instructed to forward inquiries to the relevant structures, after which this issue will be considered at the meeting.
