Ministry of Transport explains why Tajik aircraft do not fly to Tashkent

18/05/2017 17:32

The carrying capacity of the flight en route Tashkent, UzbekistanDushanbe,TajikistanTashkent, carried out by Uzbekistan Airways twice a week, is no more than 50 percent. Because of this, Somon Air, Tajikistan, is in no hurry to launch its flight to the Uzbek capital. This is how the Tajik Ministry of Transport explains the reason why Tajik planes still do not fly to Tashkent.

“For us, the main thing was to launch a flight en route TajikistanUzbekistan, which the residents of the two countries had been waiting for many years. If the flight is in demand and there are more passengers, then, of course, the Tajik airline will start flying to Tashkent. Nowadays, the work on establishing partnership between Tajikistan and Uzbekistanstill continues”, a source in the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan told Asia Plus.

The first regular flight from Tashkent to Dushanbe was carried out by Uzbekistan Airways on April 11, 2017. At that time, there were 29 people aboard the plane. Uzbekistan Airways operates its TashkentDushanbeTashkent flights twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The flight time is about one hour.

One way air ticket currently costs US $140, which, according to the Uzbek Ambassador to Tajikistan Shokosima Shoislomov, may not be as high for businessmen, but it is too expensive for ordinary citizens.

“We will try to reduce the prices for air tickets”, he said.

Orifjohn Ruzimurodov, official spokesperson of Uzbekistan Airways in Tajikistan, noted earlier, as this destination is being launched, tourists and representatives of various organizations and agencies will have more opportunities to use the airline’s services in transit flights through Tashkent. In addition, citizens of the two neighbouring republics will be able to make mutual trips to each other in a relatively short time.
