Supplies grow, revenues fall

12/05/2017 18:31

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) published the results of the industry for the first quarter of 2017. According to the Association’s Report, during the first quarter, the delivery of general aviation and helicopter aircraft, as compared to last year, has increased by 2.8% and 4% respectively, but at the same time, the cost of delivered aircraft fell by a total of $ 4.1 billion.

“In the first quarter, our industry showed mixed results, but with a few" bright spots, "said Pete Bunce, President and CEO, GAMA. “We expect that further growth will be due to the launch of new products on the market, which underscores how important it is for the US Congress to pass a law on certification reform in order to facilitate the future of aircraft construction. Members of the council and representatives of GAMA spoke about it at a meeting with lawmakers in the Capitol”.

In the first quarter of 2017, the supply of piston aircraft increased to 203 units, an increase is by 6.3%. Deliveries of business jets also increased by 6.6% to 130 units. However, the segment of turboprop aircraft showed a decrease by 7.3%, down to 101 aircraft.

The helicopter industry also showed multidirectional dynamics. While gas turbine helicopters increased shipments by 11.2% (129 in2017 vs. 116 in2016), deliveries of piston planes fell from 60 units in 2016 to 54 units in 2017.
